Greece has different values on some key issues
Interview with Sir Christopher Pissarides, Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics and Professor of European Studies at the University of Cyprus, on the 2015 GES motto “Values to Guide Economies”. Pissarides was born and grew up in Cyprus and is therefore very familiar with the corporate values of neighboring Greece.
“Greece has a very different history to the rest of Europe. Now they have to deal with a eurozone that has completely different values on some key issues, like the role of policy. There is a kind of conflict that cannot be resolved by just saying: you have to do it, because that’s what everyone has to do.”
The interview was held on the occasion of his presentation with the 2015 Global Economy Prize.
