The following article deals with the start of the Global Economic Symposium and the last info you should have about it. The author also aims to foster the discussion describing his first personal experiences in Rio de Janeiro.
The GES 2012 will start with this evening’s Welcome Dinner – Sessions, Round-tables and Plenaries will take place on Tuesday, October 16th and Wednesday, October 17th.
As I already arrived on Friday let me tell you this city is amazing! It’s my first trip to Brazil and Rio aswell and I have to admit that the impressions exceed my expectations I have only visited three districts so far but seen a lot different kinds of either people, buildings, living standards, demographic structure, races …. This city is like a microcosm of the world’s society, except it is solely speaking (Brazilian) Portuguese. ;-)
On the other Hand, as a ”veteran”: The GES kind of feels the same as last year: A professionally organized event, friendly staff, great speakers from different directions and a pretty nice venue. The only thing I can’t take into account for now is the program. I’ll evaluate this later.
Coming back to Rio: It seems s perfect place to discuss solutions for major global challenges.
Please find enclosed a selection of information from which I think it will come in very handy if you want to follow the GES from abroad. If you seek detailed information, please visit the website of the GES.
